Boudoir with my Studio Neighbors

A Creative Collaboration: A Taylor Swift-Inspired Boudoir Session at Our Reading Studio

Here at my boudoir studio in Reading, creativity is at the heart of everything we do. One of the best parts about working in the same building as Merissa and Tara is how easily we collaborate and bounce ideas off each other. Recently, we teamed up for an incredible boudoir session that was all about having fun with a Taylor Swift-inspired vibe—and let me tell you, it was magical. We mixed up the cozy charm of my studio with the artistic energy of Merissa's studio to create something truly special. Oh, and did I mention we had a vintage typewriter and a Polaroid camera on hand for extra fun? Let’s dive into the details of this creative, dreamy shoot!

A Taylor Swift-Inspired Vibe

If there’s one artist who knows how to capture emotion, romance, and a little bit of drama, it’s Taylor Swift. For this session, we wanted to channel that artistic, tortured poet vibe that Taylor often embodies in her music videos, songs, and photoshoots. From the moment we started, we knew this was going to be one of those shoots where we pushed boundaries and really got into character.

Our wardrobe was a perfect fit for the vibe we wanted to create—lots of black lace, which added that seductive, vintage touch. Lace has this wonderful ability to be both delicate and sultry, and it was the perfect foundation for our Taylor-inspired look. To elevate the mood and give it that “tortured poet” feel, we added a white button-down shirt over the lace, leaving it unbuttoned just enough to keep things playful, mysterious, and oh-so-stylish. It was the perfect balance of sensual and classic, capturing that romantic edge we were after.

Mixing Studios for Maximum Creativity

To really bring our creative vision to life, we used both my boudoir studio and Merissa’s studio, which gave us two different backdrops to work with. My space is cozy and intimate, ideal for close-ups, while Merissa's studio has more of an eclectic, artsy vibe with lots of props and textures to play with. Having two distinct spaces really helped bring out different aspects of the shoot, from soft, sensual moments to those that were a little more dramatic and cinematic.

The variety of spaces also allowed us to experiment with different lighting setups and moods, so we could capture everything from intimate close-ups to full-body shots that told a bigger story. It was amazing how each studio offered something new, and it was a blast bouncing between both spaces as the shoot evolved.

Adding Creative Touches: Vintage Typewriter and Polaroid Fun

One of my favorite parts of this session was the incorporation of props. We brought in a vintage typewriter, which instantly added a timeless, artistic feel to the shoot. There's something about a typewriter that evokes nostalgia and gives off major "tortured poet" energy, don’t you think? It was such a fun way to play with the theme and add another layer of creativity to the shoot. The typewriter made the whole experience feel even more cinematic, as if we were bringing a piece of Taylor's world to life through photography.

But we didn’t stop there! We also pulled out a Polaroid camera, which turned out to be such a fun way to mix things up. There’s something so special about the instant gratification of a Polaroid—getting to walk away with a tangible memory from the session that you can hold in your hands. It was such a sweet touch, and I love that my clients can leave with a cute keepsake from the shoot, something to remind them of the fun and creative experience we shared. Whether the Polaroid was of a dramatic pose or a candid moment, it was the perfect way to capture a piece of the magic from the day.

The Takeaway

This session was all about creativity, fun, and embracing the little details that make boudoir photography so special. By teaming up with Merissa and Tara, we were able to push the boundaries of what a boudoir session can be, and the results were absolutely stunning. It was such a blast collaborating and experimenting with props like the vintage typewriter and the Polaroid camera, as well as playing with textures, lighting, and wardrobe to create that romantic Taylor Swift-inspired vibe.

If you’ve been thinking about booking your own boudoir session and want to bring some creativity and personal flair into the mix, I would love to help you create something truly unique. Whether you want to channel a specific vibe, add fun props, or play with wardrobe ideas, the possibilities are endless. Boudoir is all about making it your own, and there’s no better way to do that than by getting a little creative and having fun with it!
